Turns out my new PC was defective. It kept randomly freezing up completely to the point where you’d have to kill the power and restart it and had other issues.
Ah well. I chose a different brand and model to replace it. 
It’s a Gateway DX4300-03
Specs:
AMD Phenom X4 9750 quad-core (clocked at 2.40GHz; meaning I finally have hardware-assisted virtualization)
8GB RAM
1TB HDD
ATI Radeon HD 4650 1024MB
TV Tuner (My signal’s crap though, won’t be able to enjoy this much unless I ever get digital cable)
Running Win7 7264 x64 now 
A bit of bad news though. When I reformatted my old one to send it back, I accidentally forgot to back up the eS source, meaning I’m gonna have to go for an old copy I made. It was pre-RC1 era, so RC1 will probably have a few features that won’t be in 1.0 final. 1.0 final will also be delayed by a couple of months.
